June 29th, 2021 On June 29,Prof.Gao Peiyong, Vice President of CASS and Secretary of the Party Committee of UCASS inaugurated the Media Convergence Laboratory of UCASS, together withProf. Zhang Zhengwen, President of UCASS and Prof.Tang Xujun,Director-General of CASS Instituteof Journalism and Communication and Dean of School of Journalism and Communication.
In addition to its teaching and experimental assignments, the newly unveiled laboratory will also contribute to the overall development across UCASS, by fully leveraging its wide publicity functions and social clout, as indicated byProf.Gao. With its well-maintained operation dynamics, the laboratory will serve as a constant instrument to deliver the voice of UCASS and CASS.
The Media Convergence Laboratory consists of four teaching areas: one for omnimedia news reporting, one for application of intelligent media technology, one for 4K ultra-high-definition program production and another for professional audio production. As a specialized premium facility for students majoring in journalism to learn and practice, the lab will also provide an immersive environment for cultivation of omnimedia interdisciplinary talents of excellence in the new era for journalism and communication sector, with its teaching and research expertise. By creating a cloud-based ecosystem for higher education that integrates “platform + content + channel + teaching + application” for convergence media, the new lab will constitute a practical platform with application scenarios for high-quality development of journalism and communication.
